The $690,000 contract to repave the street from curb to curb is part of the E gene's street and alley preservation program. The mal paving is scheduled to be completed in three phases. The first phase will close Pearl Street from ighth to 11th avenues and East 11th Avenue at High Street the night of Friday, October 13. The det ur for traffic on East 11th Avenue will be northbound on High Street to either Eighth or Sixth avenue . The cond phase will close Pearl Street from 11th Avenue to 18th Avenue the night of Sunday, Oct er 15. East 13th Avenue will remain open with one lane. I! The ird phase will be the side street intersections, which will be closed for a short period the night of Mon ay, October 16. All st eet closures and construction will take place between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. Motorists and bicyclists are ncouraged to use alternate routes to avoid detours and delays. Access to businesses i I 'I along Pearl S reet will be maintained during business hours. Pearl Street was identified as a high priority for rehabilitation through the City's pavement 'I management rogram. The Public Works Department determined that constructing a new road surface would be the ost cost-effective way to repair Pearl Street because of the low structural strength of the existing pave ~ ent and the excessive crown on the street.
