Citizens are invited <br /> to drop-in between 4:00 and 9:00 p.m. at the Eugene Hilton Conference Center, O'Neill Room. <br /> Staff will be available to answer questions and discuss the Draft Environmental Impact Statement. <br /> The Environmental Impact Statement evaluates a No-Build and three Build alternatives. <br /> One of the build alternatives proposes a new Ferry Street Bridge expanded to eight lanes, while <br /> the other two build alternatives each include a new Ferry Street Bridge expanded to six lanes, <br /> plus a new; corridor to relieve congestion in the present comdor. In one of the alternatives, the <br /> new corridor is proposed as a two-lane roadway, dedicated to alternate mode use only, while in <br /> the other, the roadway would be a four-lane facility. <br /> Certain aspects of this project are expected to generate controversy, they include: <br /> rerouting oaf some through traffic in several areas; possible closure of driveways currently being <br /> used by businesses along Coburg Road south of I-105, the reduction of driveway widths, or <br /> restrictionsl' of left turns on Franklin and Broadway due to added medians; right-of--way <br /> acquisition along some property frontages that could affect parking, landscaping and advertising; <br /> I <br /> the potential impact on Alton Baker Park; and the issue of how best to accommodate anticipated <br /> i <br /> ~ demand between automobile capacity and transit and other alternate modes. <br /> j <br /> <br />
