The bike/turn lane has been marked with aint
P
on the street, and signs have been posted alerting cars and bikes of the share lane.
The combined lane is 11 feet wide and includes afull-lane, right-turn pocket for
motorists and a 5-foot-wide through bicycle lane within the turn lane. Motorists may occupy
the entire width of the lane, but they must yield to bicyclists already present. Bicyclists entering
the shared lane must wait for any cars already in the lane to complete their right turns.
Motorists and cyclists on East 13th Avenue are encouraged to be cautious when sharing
the combined lane. Because this design is new to Eugene, the Public Works Department will

monitor the two locations to evaluate how well they are working.
(NOTE TO EDITORS: CALL BOB NOBLE OR DON BLACKMORE TO ARRANGE PHOTO)
