Public Works <br /> Administration <br /> City of Eugene <br /> OCTOBER 25, 1993 858 Pearl Street <br /> Eugene, OR 97401 <br /> CONTACT: Bud DeSantis, 687-5230 (503) 687-5262 <br /> From Public Information Section, 687-5523 <br /> FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE <br /> i <br /> FINAL PAVING SCHEDULED THIS WEEK ON HARLOW OVERPASS <br /> ~ Daytime westbound traffic on the Harlow Road overpass will be detoured for three <br /> days beginning Tuesday, October 26, for the final paving of the widened overpass at <br /> Interstate 5. <br /> From 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, westbound traffic <br /> (from S rin field to Eugene) will be detoured on Gateway Street to Beltline Road. <br /> 1? g <br /> <br /> ' Eastbound traffic (from Eugene to Springfield) will be allowed to cross the overpass, but <br /> delays are likely. Motorists, pedestrians, and bicycle riders are advised to use alternate <br /> routes if possible. <br /> The bridge-widening project will be substantially completed after this week's work, <br /> which includes removing the concrete barriers on the overpass, grinding off the existing <br /> surface, paving the travel lanes, and restriping the new pavement. <br /> ~ Work on the $400,000 project began in April. The widened overpass includes a <br /> traffic lane in each direction plus bike lanes and full-width sidewalks on both sides of the <br /> I <br /> bridge. Participating in the funding for the project are the cities of Eugene and Springfield, <br /> i <br /> Lane County, the state of Oregon, and the Oregon Department of Transportation. <br /> <br />
