The project is the nucleus of a west Eugene <br /> wetlands mitigation "bank" and is designed to include some public access and <br /> to serve a5 a gateway to the west Eugene wetlands area. <br /> When completed around November 1, the restoration site located between <br /> Fifth and seventh avenues east of Bailey Hill Road will include a nature <br /> trail and wildlife observation area. The current project will restore and <br /> enhance approximately six acres of former wetlands area. The remainder of <br /> the 16-acre site, which is owned by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), <br /> includes e~Cisting wetlands and non-wetlands buffer strips. <br /> The restored wetlands area will be used to offset or mitigate the loss <br /> of other lpcal wetlands due to public and private construction in wetlands <br /> areas. <br /> (more) <br /> <br />
