For
instance, mountain bicycle purchases have risen dramatically since 1987.
V . Future Plans
A. Eugene has requested federal funding to build several projects to support
bicycle usage, such as the extension of the Fern Ridge Path, an overcrossing
of 18th Avenue near Chambers Street, an extension of the riverbank trails, and
"green street" treatment (Woonerf-style) for 15th Avenue.
B. Future street routes will include 29th Avenue bike lanes, and two north-south
routes. When improvements to Ayres Road, Beltline, Riverfront Park streets,
Roosevelt, West Eugene Parkway, and Terry Street are made, bicycle facilities
will be provided.
C. Policies which encourage bicycling by requiring more secure and covered
bicycle parking, direct bicycle and pedestrian access through developments,
and requiring bicycle facilities on all arterials and collectors are being
developed.
VI.
