The testing is done to locate defects and improper <br /> connection that allow stormwater runoff and groundwater to enter the wastewater collection <br /> system. <br /> Thi is the third year of an ongoing testing program. This year's testing includes two <br /> general are s: the south-central area, roughly bounded by Polk Street on the west, Spring <br /> Boulevard n the east, 24th Avenue on the north, and 36th Avenue on the south; and the <br /> downtown hiteaker area, roughly bounded by Polk Street on the west, Kincaid Street on the <br /> east, the illamette River on the north, and 18th Avenue on the south. Testing will begin in <br /> the southw st corner of the south-central area and is expected to take several months to <br /> <br /> I complete. <br /> <br /> i <br /> Dur ng the tests, which are endorsed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, <br /> nontoxic, hite smoke is released into sanitary sewer lines to identify problems. Residents <br /> are notice before testing begins in their neighborhood.
