Property owners on Berntzen petitioned the City of Eugene for the <br /> improveme ts, which will also provide better access to the Petersen Barn Community Center. <br /> The mprovement project includes installing paving, curb and gutter, storm sewer, and <br /> sidewalks o approximately 1,500 feet of Berntzen Road. In the vicinity of Petersen Park, the <br /> sidewalks 'll be eight feet wide to accommodate pedestrians and cyclists. Elsewhere along <br /> Berntzen th sidewalks will be five feet wide, making the popular walking route safer for <br /> i <br /> schoolchild en. <br /> Eug ne Sand & Gravel has been awarded the $300,000 contract for the work. <br /> Benefiting roperty owners along Berntzen will pay for the improvements through <br /> assessment .
