The actual paving will be done in August and September. <br /> Wil ish Construction has been awarded a $1.9 million contract to repave the runway. <br /> The Feder Aviation Authority is providing 90 percent of the funding for the project, with <br /> the Eugene Airport supplying the remaining 10 percent. <br /> Co struction has been scheduled to work around airline flight schedules so there will <br /> I' ion of commercial airline service. During July, workers will remove the lighting <br /> be no disc pt <br /> system co ponents in the runway area and mobilize equipment for the main paving work. <br /> The runwa will be open from 5:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. during the preparatory work. <br /> Pa ing construction is scheduled to begin August 1. The work includes removing and <br /> replacing t e top two inches of the existing asphalt surface, which is deteriorating and leaving <br /> loose grav 1 on the runway surface. During this phase of construction, the runway will be <br /> open from 5:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. <br /> Th next step is applying a new top layer of dense asphalt mix. This work will be <br /> done in S tember, and will require closing the runway for five days. The final step is <br /> grooving t e new surface to increase friction and provide better drainage.
