In Eugene, the stormwater
and sani ry sewer systems are separate. The stenciling project involves painting a fish near
storm d ins to remind people that everything that enters a storm drain flows directly,
untreat , into a nearby freshwater stream. Door hangers distributed to neighborhood homes .
comple ent the painting and explain how to properly dispose of materials that pose a
potential hazard to fish and water quality.
he program is coordinated by the City of Eugene Public Works Department which
provides equipment and supplies. Volunteer groups interested in storm drain stenciling
opportu ities may call Public Works at 465-2739.
##f#
