The proposed ordinance <br /> was develo ed to help the city keep its street systems open so that emergency <br /> vehicles, uses, and traffic can move safely around town during snow and ice <br /> storms. T e ordinance would allow the city to ban parking on priority one <br /> and two st eets and on priority three streets, as needed, during winter <br /> storms leet, freezing rain, or icy weather or when more than one inch <br /> of snow ac umulates on the streets. <br /> A pub is hearing before the Eugene City Council is scheduled for Monday, <br /> Oct. 22, a 7:30 p.m., in the City Council Chamber, 777 Pearl Street. The <br /> Council will make a decision about whether or not to approve the proposed <br /> ordinance. If adopted, the ordinance would go into effect this winter. <br /> Duri g moderate storms, parking would be prohibited along priority one <br /> and two s reets; only during severe storms would parking be banned on <br /> priority hree streets. The ban would remain in effect until the snow <br /> emergency was over. The city has 18 miles of priority one streets, 102 miles <br /> of priori y two streets, and 39 miles of priority three streets. <br /> more <br /> <br />
