If residents do not get the
leaves pile on the street prior to the scheduled time for their neighborhood, they will be
responsibl for removing the leaves themselves.
On treets with curbs and gutters leaves should be piled on the street surface near the
gutter line, making sure the piles don't block the flow of water along the curb. On streets
without cu bs and gutters, leaves should be placed neaz the street but cleaz of ditches.
Hammitt a ks residents to keep catch basins open to prevent flooding and cautions against
placing lea es in bike lanes and traffic lanes where they may create a possible safety hazard.
San left from recent street sanding opertions on residential streets will be cleaned up
in conjunct on with the leaf pickup. Sand left on azterials will be cleaned up during the night.
According o Hammitt, traffic has pushed most of the sand out of the main travel lanes onto
adjacent b' a lanes and crosswalks, and he advises bicyclists and pedestrians to be extra
cautious u it the cleanup is completed. Property owners aze responsible for sweeping sand
off sidewa sand may sweep it into the street where street sweepers will clean it up.
For more information about the leaf pickup and storm cleanup ca11687-5220.
