Delta <br /> won the awa d for their outstanding effort in creating a public/private <br /> partnership to improve a dangerous off ramp on Beltline at the west-bound <br /> intersectio of Division Avenue and River Avenue. Delta's operations are <br /> located nea the intersection. <br /> According to Bob Noble, the city of Eugene traffic operations supervisor <br /> who nominat d Delta for the award, the intersection had had a history of <br /> j accidents, including one fatality. "The configuration of the intersection <br /> itself cre ted problems. It also carries a lot of truck traffic for the sand <br /> j and gravel operation, and the Beltline traffic exiting onto Division often <br /> exceeded t e 20 mph speed limit." <br /> In 19 9, the owners of Delta Sand and Gravel approached the city of <br /> Eugene abo t the safety problems associated with the intersection and made <br /> some sugge tions for correcting them. <br /> <br /> i <br /> "Ravi g just taken over jurisdiciton of the intersection from Lane <br /> County, th city had no funds budgeted to take on the project, so Delta <br /> <br />
