Call the Public <br /> Works Maint Hance Division. <br /> The ci y's street tree operation, which includes caring for approximately <br /> 100,000 tre s, administration of the city's tree preservation ordinance, <br /> planting, i spection, pruning and removal, will officially become part of the <br /> Public Work Department, effective July 1. <br /> The tr nsfer, according to Ed Smith, Executive Manager of the Parks, <br /> Recreation nd Cultural Services Department, is being made because street trees <br /> have always been an integral part of the planning and maintenance of the city's <br /> street infr structure which includes curbs, sidewalks and parking strips. <br /> The mo a makes sense, Smith said, because with funding and resources <br /> a1 ready ava Table in public works, the program will be enhanced and operate <br /> more effici ntly to serve the public. <br /> -MORE- <br /> <br /> ; <br /> <br />
