Public Works <br /> <br /> ~ City of Eugene <br /> 858 Pearl Street <br /> <br /> ~ N E W S R E L E A S E Eugene, Oregon 97401 <br /> (503) 687-5262 <br /> July 25, 19 1 <br /> CONTACT: B d DeSantis, Project Manager, 687-5230 <br /> From Sandra Gleason, Public Information, 687-5523 <br /> FOR IMMEDIA E RELEASE <br /> <br /> I <br /> UARD RAIL WORK MAY CAUSE SHORT DELAYS ON HARLOW OVERPASS <br /> Beginning on Friday, July 26, Wildish Paving will remove and replace the <br /> guard rails on the north and south sides of the Harlow Road overpass ramps. <br /> 1'he replace ent of the guard rails is part of a two-phase construction <br /> project tha began in early July to improve Harlow Road between Garden Way <br /> and Beverly Street. <br /> One la e of traffic will be open at all time while the crew works on the <br /> guard rails. Flaggers will be on hand to direct traffic, but motorists should <br /> <br /> ~ expect some short delays. Crews will work between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday <br /> through Fri ay. The new guard rails will be installed by Wednesday <br /> afternoon, m y 31. <br /> Plans or the entire project include widening Harlow Road, adding new <br /> bike lanes nd left turn lanes at Garden Way, Mountain View, Dornock Street, <br /> and Beverly Street, installing new curbs and sidewalks, widening the overpass <br /> at I-5, and adding new sidewalks and bike paths to both the north and south <br /> ;:ides of th overpass. Work will continue on the project through the spring <br /> of 1992. <br /> The pr ject is jointly funded by the cities of Eugene and Springfield, <br /> Lane County, the State of Oregon, and the Oregon Department of <br /> Transportat'on. <br /> <br />
