The street will remain closed until the trees are removed and all <br /> debris is cleaned up. <br /> Last fall, city crews removed all the dead limbs and the drying crowns <br /> from bot trees. This summer, an additional 30 percent of the crown died <br /> <br /> ~r,,,r back. I June, a large limb fell from the maple tree in front of the <br /> entrance to City Hall on 8th Avenue. This prompted the city to undertake a <br /> detailed hazard assessment of all large maple trees around City Hall. The <br /> assessme is showed extensive internal decay in the two trees. Decay within <br /> the limb of the trees exceeded 30 percent, the threshold for limb failure. <br /> Acc rding to Jan Staszewski, the city's urban forester, they cannot save <br /> the tree "Given their condition, limbs will continue to fall and could <br /> eventually hit a person or vehicle," Stazewski said. <br /> The report shows that the other two maples on 7th Avenue show some die <br /> back and internal decay. The City will continue to monitor them. <br /> <br />
