h``
i
~ ~ ~
August 17, 1992
SUBJECT: REPAIRS SCHEDULED FOR YOUR STREET (Job # 2804)
Each yea the Eugene Public Works Department overlays city streets that have
been ide tified for preservation in the adopted Eugene Capital Improvement
Program CIP). Streets needing repair are identified and prioritized through
a paveme t management program that rates the condition of city streets.
Your str et was one of 11 streets targeted for maintenance. The overlay
projects will begin Tuesday, August 18, and will take about 2-1/2 months to
complete Repairs are scheduled in the following order:
4th ve. from 200 feet east of Lincoln St. to Washington St.
tails n Court from 14th Ave. to Wilson St.
tails n St. from 14th Ave. to 18th Ave.
McKi ley St. from 14th Ave. to 18th Ave.
McKi ley Court from 14th Ave. to McKinley St.
Alma en St. from 7th Ave. to 11th Ave.
21st Ave from City View to 1,100 feet west
Center Way from East Amazon Dr. to Martin St.
20th Ave. from University St. to Agate St.
28th Ave. from Alder St. to University St.
Via uct at the Coburg Road and 6th Ave. off-ramp
Eugene and and Gravel is contractor for the work. Funds are provided
through gas tax receipts, so there is no direct cost to adjacent property
owners.
The wor will occur in several stages. First, a portion of the existing
street urface will be ground off (rotomilled). Next, any areas with pot
holes o sunken spots will be dug out. Finally, the street will be repaved
and res riped if appropriate.
Constru tion hours usually run from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday,
but the contractor may work from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m, to ensure streets can be
reopene each evening. During construction, the road will be closed to
through traffic. One lane of traffic will be maintained where possible for
area re idents; however, some delays may occur and driveways may be blocked
for sho t periods of time. Streets will be posted with "No Parking" signs.
The lif of a street can be greatly extended through timely maintenance.
Catchin problems when they are small and easily corrected is the most
cost-ef ective time to make repairs. Each dollar spent on simple repairs
when th pavement begins to deteriorate saves the community the $4 or $5 a
square and it would cost for a major reconstruction.
