Peter Ruffier, who <br /> began wor in mid-September, moved to Eugene from Madison, Wisconsin to <br /> manage th Eugene/Springfield wastewater treatment plant. He will oversee <br /> all the re Tonal water pollution control facilities for the cities of Eugene <br /> and Springfield and for the River Road/Santa Clara area. Facilities include <br /> the regional treatment plant on River Avenue, a 286-acre Cannery Waste <br /> Management Facility, a 154-acre Sludge Management Facility, and regional <br /> pumping st tions and transmission lines. <br /> While in Madison, Ruffier recently served as the director of special <br /> projects f r the Madison Metropolitan Sewerage District, a large special <br /> district w stewater treatment agency. A major part of his job involved <br /> acting as iaison between the sewerage district and the United States <br /> Environme tal Protection Agency on a Superfund sludge lagoon site <br /> contaminat d with PCBs. In addition, he managed remedial investigation and <br /> feasibilit studies, coordinated regulatory activities with state and federal <br /> authoritie and managed the industrial stormwater permit application. <br /> Ruffi r worked a total of 11 years for Madison, except for a three-year <br /> hiatus dur ng which he was the director of technical services for the <br /> <br /> Associatio of Metropolitan Sewerage Agencies (AMSA) in Washington, D.C. <br /> MORE <br /> <br />
