Nis
responsib lines are to supervise and manage two distinct work units, the traffic
signing nd striping maintenance section and the traffic operations/data
collectio section. He initiated a program to cross-train employees for the
numerous tasks performed by the signing and pavement striping crews. He also made sure this
opportun'ty for traffic control safety training was available to local
contract rs, utility companies, and others who work in the public right-of-way.
He made 71 the necessary logistical and financial arrangements for the seminar
which in luded bringing in an expert in the field of construction traffic control
as an i structor. Bob has continued to promote and encourage proper traffic
control techniques. He has been the instructor for several traffic control
trainin sessions for work units within the city and for other agencies such as
utility companies. Nis dedication to the enhancement of work zone traffic
control procedures within the city has and will continue to pay off by providing
safer w rk zones for workers and the motoring public.
Another example demonstrating Bob's high level of initiative: this past year he
almost Ingle-handedly promoted and received approval of a program that provides
I
