August 6,; <br /> <br /> II' 1987 <br /> i <br /> NEWS REL ASE <br /> From: B rbara Bellamy, Public Information Director <br /> <br /> j City Man ger's Office, 687-5010 <br /> FOR IMME IATE RELEASE <br /> <br /> II ARCHITECT TEAM SELECTED FOR FINAL PHASE OF AIRPORT PROJECT <br /> TRA of Seattle and Brockmeyer McDonnell, a Eugene firm, have been selected <br /> as the a chitect team for the construction document phase of the Mahlon Sweet <br /> airport a pansion project. <br /> The ity is now negotiating contract terms and fee with the team and <br /> wishes to sign a contract by August 14, according to Ricky Langford, <br /> <br /> I'; facilitie development director. <br /> Six rchitect teams submitted proposals and were interviewed Wednesday, <br /> August 5 y afour-person panel consisting of Langford, Assistant City Manager <br /> <br /> ICI Dave Whit ow, Portland architect Joy Gannett and Continental Airlines <br /> facilitie manager David Brush. <br /> Five of t e six architect teams included Eugene architects. <br /> <br /> j "TRA Brockmeyer McDonnell is the unanimous selection of the interview <br /> <br /> I!, panel," L ngford stated. "They are our first choice based on experience in <br /> handling imilar projects, their understanding of this project, and their <br /> <br /> I~'~ ability t meet our construction schedule." <br /> TRA, which has special expertise and experience in airport design, has <br /> consulted on the project since 1980, working with Mention Hanns Hellesvig, <br /> a Eugene irm which was the project architect for the design phase.
