Additional ground <br /> f <br /> ! transports ion during the Games will be provided by Lane Transit District. <br /> Shuttles ill be operating from the airport to the University of Oregon and <br /> to all major Eugene and Springfield hotels. <br /> Expo sion of the north end of the terminal began in early August, 1988. <br /> During th past year of work, construction has included remodeling the <br /> <br /> ~j <br /> airline ticketing areas and gift shop on the lower level and constructing an <br /> elevated oncourse, which will include a new gate lobby, a snack bar and <br /> lounge, a d a second gift shop featuring specialty Oregon products. When <br /> this phas opens in August, the terminal expansion project will be more than <br /> f <br /> 80 percen finished. <br /> Once the north end of the terminal is open, work will begin on the south <br /> <br /> ~F <br /> end on th new baggage claim area, the car rental facilities, and on the main <br /> restauran and lounge. Completion of the entire expansion project is <br /> scheduled for February, 1990. <br /> When completed, the new terminal will be three times larger than the old <br /> terminal, with nearly 90,000 square feet of space, and will offer more room <br /> s <br /> for airli es, the restaurant and snack bar, gift shops, car rental agencies, <br /> and other airport businesses. <br /> The 20.2 million project is funded through a combination of local, <br /> state, an federal revenues and includes reconstruction of the parking lot <br /> and road ystems, expansion of the terminal, ramp paving and lighting, and <br /> installat on of a storm and sanitary sewer system. <br /> <br />
