"Based on 1972-73 <br /> stud es, about 28 percent of Eugene's reported bicycle accidents occur <br /> duri g periods of darkness. This is more than twice the percentage of <br /> 'dar ness' accidents reported by the State of Oregon", McCluskey stated. <br /> To encourage winter bicyclists to buy and use bicycle lights, <br /> the ublic Works Department is promoting a Halloween lite-your-bike <br /> campaign. "Several Local bike shops are participating by remaining <br /> ope until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 29", McCluskey said.
