Adoption of <br /> the progr m means that several Eugene and Springfield highway projects will <br /> be able t begin construction in the next two years. <br /> The est Eugene Parkway, an extension of Sixth and Seventh Avenues to <br /> Oak Hill oad, was given the go ahead. The commission allocated $8.2 <br /> million o State Modernization funds to begin construction of Phase I, from <br /> Garfield o Beltline, in 1990. Another $5 million was allocated for Phase <br /> II to co lete the final design of the section from Beltline to Oak Hill Road <br /> and to be in right-of-way acquisition. <br /> Acc rding to Dave Reinhard, Public Works transportation engineer, <br /> "This me ns the city has a good chance of getting construction dollars in <br /> the next update of the HIP in 1988, with the final phase of construction <br /> beginnin in 1991 or 1992." <br /> 0th r projects funded for 1987 construction include $4.1 million for <br /> Main/Sou h A improvements from the Willamette River to 20th, and $530,000 <br /> for the ohawk interchange signal and ramp improvements.
