<br /> ~r. <br /> NEWS RELEASE <br /> August 29, 1986 <br /> CONTACT: Ivan Koehn, Public Works Engineering, 687-5230 <br /> Sandra Gleason, Public Information Coordinator, 687-5523 <br /> FOR IMMED ATE RELEASE <br /> CITY TO OVERLAY MAJOR ARTERIAL STREETS <br /> Begi Wing September 2, H & J Construction will start preparing and <br /> overlayin 11 city streets, five of which are major arterials. Work will <br /> ~ continue hrough September. Cost of the project is $277,208. <br /> Crew will grind off rough edges, remove broken and damaged street <br /> sections nd then completely overlay each street with a hot (360 degree) <br /> i <br /> ~ asphalt m xture. On major arterials, the contractor will maintain two lanes <br /> i <br /> of traffi and flaggers will assist with traffic flow. Detours will be <br /> I <br /> posted on less busy streets. No overnight closures are expected, but if <br /> residents will need their cars, they should park them outside the work area. <br /> Ivan Koeh Public Works spokesperson, encouraged residents and business <br /> owners to notify him about emergency situations, special deliveries, etc., and <br /> he would ork with the contractor about scheduling. Koehn can be reached at <br /> i <br /> 687-5230. <br /> Acco ding to Koehn, some delays between preparing and patching the <br /> street an the full overlay will occur. "We have two subcontractors working <br /> on this p oject, one to do the grinding and repatch work and another to do <br /> street ov rlays. We've scheduled the work so that the longest delay the <br /> public ca expect between patching and overlay is about a week." <br /> more <br /> <br />
