The <br /> new revisi ns will allow the City to offer more consistent and equal treatment <br /> j in displaying signs, will increase public safety, and will preserve the scenic <br /> beauty of Eugene. <br /> The Eugene sign code now prohibits all pennants, streamers, portable <br /> signs, and banners. Some limited use of banners will be allowed during <br /> i <br /> community events, such as the Eugene Celebration, and the use of portable <br /> i <br /> signs will be reviewed for construction projects that affect businesses, <br /> like the th/7th Street widening project. <br /> I <br /> As p rt of the new enforcement process, city staff will more closely <br /> monitor s'gn use to bring non-conforming signs into compliance with the code. <br /> A visual urvey of the city to identify sign violations has been completed. <br /> Within th next few months, letters will be mailed to business owners who have <br /> violation requesting the signs be removed within 10 days. After notifying <br /> j the burin ss, city staff will make another inspection. All non-complying <br /> <br /> i <br /> owners wi 1 be contacted personally and given a 24-hour notice to remove the <br /> sign.
