NEWS RELEASE <br /> i <br /> August 7, 1987 <br /> CONTACT: Pat Bayes, Project Manager, 687-5228 <br /> Sandra Gleason, Public Information, 687-5523 <br /> FOR IMMED ATE RELEASE <br /> FOURTH AVENUE TO BE CLOSED FOR IMPROVEMENTS <br /> On M nday, August 10, 1987, Wildish Corvallis Construction Co. will begin <br /> reconstru tion of 4th Avenue between High Street and Ferry Street Bridge. <br /> Beginning Tuesday, August 11, and continuing through September 18, 4th Avenue <br /> will be c osed to all northboundntraffic, bicyclists, and pedestrians. <br /> Motorists can access Ferry Street Bridge from either 7th Avenue or from <br /> Franklin lvd. All detours will be posted. <br /> Wild sh will maintain access to the lots on the north side of 4th Avenue <br /> between M 11 and High and to the Eugene Water and Electric Board's temporary <br /> ~ entrance n Mill Street. The detour for EWER will run north along High <br /> Steet, ea t on 3rd Avenue, and south on Mill. <br /> <br /> i The oad reconstruction project includes rebuilding and widening 4th <br /> Avenue to 46 feet, with bike lanes along both sides, installing storm sewers <br /> and stree lights, and constructing curbs and gutters. EWEB will install a <br /> 12-foot w de sidewalk along the south side of 4th Avenue, from High to Ferry <br /> Street Br dge during the road improvement project. <br /> I <br /> The 168,373 project was initiated by the Eugene City Council at the <br /> request o EWEB as a condition of the Greenway use permit. <br /> ' <br /> <br />
