NEWS RELEASE <br /> September 11, 1987 <br /> CONTACT: Ivan Koehn, Project Inspector, 687-5230 <br /> Sandra Gleason, Public Information, 687-5523 <br /> FOR IMMEDI TE RELEASE <br /> CITY RESURFACES BAXTER AND FAIRFIELD STREETS <br /> Begi ning Tuesday, September 15, at 8 a.m. and continuing through the <br /> <br /> ~ week of S ptember 21, Eugene Sand and Gravel will resurface two streets for <br /> the city f Eugene Public Works department. The contractor will begin with <br /> repairs t Baxter Street from Royal Avenue to Elmira Road. Once Baxter is <br /> <br /> i <br /> completed, crews will move to Fairfield Street, from Royal Avenue to Elmira <br /> Road. <br /> <br /> i Acco ding to Ivan Koehn, Public Works project inspector, each street will <br /> take abou five days to repair, depending on the weather. <br /> Crew will excavate the asphalt base of both streets, will replace the <br /> rock base and will resurface each street with 71/2-inches of new asphalt. <br /> Curbs and driveways will not be affected. <br /> The treets will be closed to through traffic during construction. Buses <br /> will cont nue their regular schedule, but will use Fairfield Streeet during <br /> the const uction of Baxter. <br /> The 93,804 rehabilitation project is part of the city's annual street <br /> maintenan a program. <br /> <br />
