The figure is the result of an annual survey of community <br /> design pr fessionals and commercial and residential builders that is conducted <br /> by Larry eed, city building safety division manager, to forecast the <br /> construct on activity expected for the coming calendar year. <br /> "The survey is an important planning tool that shows the Permit and <br /> Informati n Center management the type and amount of construction activity <br /> that will flow through the building safety division during the year. It helps <br /> us antici ate where we'll need to focus staff and city resources," said Reed. <br /> Reed stated the construction activity in Eugene for 1987 will total <br /> approxima ely $100,000,000, and was one of the busiest construction seasons <br /> <br /> ~ the metro olitan area has experienced since 1978. <br /> <br /> i <br /> Reed ays the type of construction activity in 1988 will change. In 1987, <br /> a few lar er projects were constructed. The forecast for 1988 indicates that <br /> smaller, ut more projects will get underway. Projects include the Mahlon <br /> Sweet Air ort terminal expansion, several projects for the University of <br /> Oregon, a parking structure and additions to Sacred Heart Hospital, a new <br /> transit f cility for the Lane Transist District, a new Lane County Corrections <br /> Center, t o new post offices, plus many smaller projects. <br /> more <br /> <br />
