i <br /> ; <br /> NEWS RELEASE <br /> June 2, 1988 <br /> i <br /> CONTACT: Paul Klope, Project Manager, 687-5246 <br /> Bob Terrel, Construction Supervisor, 687-5382 <br /> Sandra Gleason, Public Information, 687-5523 <br /> FOR IMME IATE RELEASE <br /> CITY TO BEGIN RECONSTRUCTION OF ROOSEVELT BOULEVARD <br /> On M nday, June 6, Wildish Corvallis Construction Co., will begin <br /> reconstru tion of Roosevelt Boulevard, between Highway 99 and Maple Street. <br /> Construction crews will excavate and rebuild the existing roadbed, will widen <br /> the stree to include two travel lanes and two turn pockets, will install new <br /> traffic signals at the intersections of Seneca and Roosevelt and at Bertelsen, <br /> and will 'nstall new traffic signals at the intersection of Seneca and <br /> Roosevelt Boulevard. The $700,000 project is funded through state and federal <br /> funds. <br /> The treet will be closed to through traffic on weekdays but will be <br /> open each weekend from 3 p.m. Friday through Sunday. Access to businesses <br /> j and resid nces will be maintained. By mid-July, it will be reopened to <br /> through t affic. The project is scheduled for completion by July 31. <br /> Cons ruction of anew bikepath along the Roosevelt Channel, from Maple to <br /> Beltline s also underway and will be completed by the end of June. <br /> The econstruction of this section of Roosevelt is the final phase of a <br /> ~ three-yea project to provide an east/west arterial connecting Beltline Road <br /> and Highw y 99. Eventually, the road will connect to the Chambers Connector <br /> <br /> j at the ea t end of Roosevelt, providing a link with River Road/Santa Clara and <br /> central E gene. <br /> <br />
