Councilor Roger Rutan and Miller presented the <br /> committee' proposal to the City Council during its regular Wednesday <br /> meeting. <br /> ~ The p rpose of the signs is to support community efforts to improve the <br /> appearance of city entrances, attract freeway travelers to the community, and <br /> convey a p sitive image of Eugene to its residents, visitors, and other <br /> highway us rs. <br /> The ci y selected four sites for the signs along entrance corridors <br /> identified in the city of Eugene Entrance Beautification Study. Those sites <br /> are locate on Interstate 5 near the I-105 off ramp (south bound); on <br /> Interstate 5 just south of Glenwood Boulevard (north bound traffic) south of <br /> i <br /> Glenwood B ulevard; at Franklin Boulevard near the Angus Restaurant; and on <br /> Highway 99 North, just north of the Beltline exchange. <br /> Accor ing to Dave Reinhard, city transportation engineer, the city <br /> became int rested in the entrance signs in late 1987, when the Oregon <br /> legislatur enacted legislation authorizing the Oregon Department of <br /> more <br /> i <br /> <br />
