Additional ground <br /> transportation during the Games will be provided by Lane Transit District. <br /> Shuttles wi 1 be operating from the airport to the University of Oregon and <br /> to all maj r Eugene and Springfield hotels. <br /> Expan ion of the north end of the terminal began in early August, 1988. <br /> During the past year of work, construction has included remodeling the <br /> airline ti keting areas and gift shop on the lower level and constructing an <br /> elevated c ncourse, which will include a new gate lobby, a snack bar and <br /> lounge, an a second gift shop featuring specialty Oregon products. When <br /> this phase opens in August, the terminal expansion project will be more than <br /> 80 percent finished. <br /> ~ Once he north end of the terminal is open, work will begin on the south <br /> i <br /> end on the new baggage claim area, the car rental facilities, and on the main <br /> i <br /> restaurant and lounge. Completion of the entire expansion project is <br /> scheduled or February, 1990. <br /> When ompleted, the new terminal will be three times larger than the old <br /> terminal, ith nearly 90,000 square feet of space, and will offer more room <br /> for airlin s, the restaurant and snack bar, gift shops, car rental agencies, <br /> and other irport businesses. <br /> The ~ 0.2 million project is funded through a combination of local, <br /> state, and federal revenues and includes reconstruction of the parking lot <br /> and road s stems, expansion of the terminal, ramp paving and lighting, and <br /> installati n of a storm and sanitary sewer system. <br /> <br />
