PUBLIC WO S DEPARTMENT • 858 PEARL • EUGENE, OREGON 97401 <br /> <br /> ~r <br /> NEWS RELEASE <br /> i <br /> July 26, 989 <br /> CONTACT: Pat Bayes, Project Manager, 687-5228 <br /> Doug Weber, Engineering, 341-3866 <br /> From Sand a Gleason, Public Information, 687-5223 <br /> FOR IMMED ATE RELEASE <br /> CONSTRUCTION TO BEGIN ON EIGHTH AVENUE AND BROADWAY <br /> On J ly 31, Wildish Corvallis Construction Co., under contract to the <br /> city of E gene Public Works Department, will begin reconstruction of Eighth <br /> Avenue fr m Pearl to Mill Street and East Broadway from Pearl Street to <br /> Franklin oulevard. The project will be broken into two phases, with <br /> reconstru tion of Eighth Avenue scheduled from July 31 to August 30, and <br /> reconstru tion of Broadway to begin August 30. Work will not begin on <br /> Broadway ntil Eighth Avenue is completed. The entire project is scheduled <br /> for compl tion by October 22. <br /> Crew will place barricades on Monday morning at 5 a.m., closing Eighth <br /> Avenue to through traffic during the first three weeks of construction. Two <br /> lanes of raffic will be kept open on High and Pearl; however some traffic <br /> delays ma occur. Eight Avenue traffic from Ferry Street Bridge will be <br /> ~ detoured o Broadway. Parking will be removed on Eighth Avenue between Ferry <br /> and Pearl and south to the alley on Pearl and High Streets during <br /> construct on. <br /> The roject will include reconstructing the existing street surfaces of <br /> both Eigh h and Broadway and replacing adjacent curbs and portions of the <br /> more <br /> <br />
