Lower Amazon Floodplain Analysis, Phase 26
tables, and GIS map layers. They are then consolidated into a special and very complicated
FEMA-specified Digital FIRM format.
Create GIS Digital Flood Map Layers. PWR will consolidate the GIS map layers developed in
this project to produce the GIS map layers required for DFIRM submissions (e.g. political
boundaries, hydrography, and flood hazard areas) that incorporate the FIS and DFIRM results as
specified in the Guidelines and the DFIRM Specifications. These requirements are lengthy,
involved, complex, and exacting, but PWR has the advantage of using previously accepted map
layers as templates to complete the GIS products for this submittal in an extremely cost-effective
manner.
Prepare FIS Report. PWR will prepare FIS study text and supporting tables finalized under
Task 8. PWR will also complete the digital data submission checklist, metadata files for the
digital data sources, and the Flood Insurance Study Certification required of study contractors for
the FIS studies they prepare.
Prepare TSDN. The information from this project will be incorporated into a Technical Support
Data Notebook (TSDN) for inclusion into the FIS submittal to FEMA. This TSDN will include
all previous submittals to FEMA's NSP plus the additional TSDN information required by the
guidelines.
Deliverables (Complete FIS Submittal):
• Digital and paper FIS work maps
• Digital GIS DFIRM map layers
• Digital and paper FIS report text "
• Digital model inputs and outputs
• Paper model input summary
• Digital and paper FIS flood profiles
• Digital and paper table of FIS flows
• Digital and paper floodway data table
• Digital and paper table of ERM / NGS reference locations
• Digital and paper key to cross section labeling
• Digital data submission checklists
• Flood Insurance Study Certification Forms (scanned and paper)
• Technical Support Data Notebook (TSDN) on CD-ROM
POST PRELIMINARY PROCESSING
Following the completion of the FIS submittal package to FEMA there are a few remaining
activities that involve the study contractor (i.e. PWR). This task outlines those activities.
Respond to FEMA's Review. FEMA's National Service Provider, Michael Baker Jr., Inc.
(MBJ), will review the FIS submittal package'and point out any problems that need to be
corrected. PWR will respond to and/or correct any problems that MBJ discovers in their review.
FEMA Public Meeting. PWR will participate in one public meeting that FEMA arranges. The

purpose of the meeting is to review the preliminary FIS profiles, maps and reports that are

published for public comment following the NSP's review of the FIS submittal.
f'
