Th~s Iaw requires tha~ entities using public funds for public works must pay na~ less <br />than the prevai~~ng ra#e of Wage for an hour's waxk, ~nclud~ng fringe benefits, in the same <br />trade in the locality where the work is performed, Contrac~s not exceed~ng $50,000 are <br />exemp~ from prevailing wage ra~e lav~s and nonprofi~ arganiza~ions are exemp~ for wark <br />other than construc~ian. Public works is def~ned as ~nc~ud~ng "roads, highwa~s, bu~~dings, <br />structu~es and ~mp~ovements of all ~ypes, ~he construction, ~econst~uct~an, major renovat~on <br />or pain~~ng of which is carried on or contracted for by any public agency to serve ~he pub~ic <br />interest ..."
