A~essage Page 2 of 2
From: PROUDFOOT Emily A
Sent: Thursday, August 19, 2004 3:30 PM
To: HOSfICK Robin A
Subject: Frank Kinney Bid opening
Hi Robin -
Here's the breakdown on bids we opened yesterday for the Frank Kinney Project:
2G $275,166.20
Grant's $292,958.55
Triton $297,465.75
My estimate was $243,281.75
Frankly, it's not a pretty picture, financially. (I think this is the reality of late season bidding...)
Removing the alternates, it looks like the low base bid is $265,048.10. Our overall budget is
$300,000 and we have $81,000 in soft costs. This puts us about $45,000 over budget, which is a lot.
The rough breakdown on soft costs is as follows:
Contingency: $20,000
Permits: $7,500
Advertising and Admin.: $1,060
Consultant work $9,825
Playground Equip. $2,500
Park sign: $5,000
EWEB: $2,000
1 % for Art holdout $3,000
Art Allowance: $1,000
Testing: $1,500
Native Seed: $500
PSF to date: $11,000
PSF to finish: 16 000
$80,885
I can send you the bid tabulations for additional information.
We can go a couple of ways, as I see it.
1) We can find more money
2) We can negotiate with the contractor to value engineer the project down, but this will take
time, which we don't have a lot of.
I'm so sorry for the bad news. I thought we might be a little over before we went to bid, but not this
much.
Let me know what you'd like to do and if Andrea can find any more money.
Thanks -
Emily Proudfoot, ASL.A
Landscape Architect, City of Eugene
Public Works, Engineering
858 Pearl Street
Eugene, OR 97401
541-682-6019
emily. a. proudfoot@ci. eugene. or. us

8/30/2004
