Public Works
Engineering
City of Eugene
MEMORANDUM 858 Pearl Street
Eugene, Oregon 97401
(541) 682-5291
(541) 682-5032 FAX
Date: July 7, 2006
To: Debbie Clark, PW Administration
From: Emily Proudfoot, PW Engineering
Subject: RiverPlay wood chip surfacing purchase
Debbie -
We recently accepted delivery of 525 cubic yards of engineered wood fiber play chips for the
RiverPlay Playground project at Skinner Butte Pazk. The vendor was Rexius as they provided us
with a significant discount as a donation to the project, they are a local vendor of this product,
and they provide a product that I prefer as a designer and specifier of playground related products
and equipment
In the process of soliciting this donation, we also received quotes from vendors who supply a
compazable product. At that time we estimated that 370 cubic yards would be installed. We
received quotes of $34.27/cubic yard from SiteLines of Oregon and SW Washington,
$31.70/cubic yard from Northwest Recreation of Oregon and $24.96/cubic yard from Rexius.
In reality we installed 525 cubic yards as there is a significant amount of fluff before the product
compacts to the appropriate depth. The total billed for the chips is $12,929.00, which actually
comes out to $24.62/ cubic yazd, and if we pay net 10th, we'll receive a 10% discount. I have
attached the invoice approved for payment and copies of the quotes we received. If you have any
additional questions or concerns regarding the purchase of this item, please contact me via email
or at ext. 6019.
h s ve or your assistance.

Emily Prou oot, AS

Landscape chitect, Const ction Project Manager
0~_10-06A06~02 RCVD
