~ Public Works
Parks and Open Space
City of Eugene
1820 Roosevelt Boulevard
September 19, 2005 Eugene, Oregon 97402
(541) 682-4800
Mr. Martin Hudson (541) 682-4882 FAX
Department of the Army
Corps of Engineers, Portland District
P.O. Box 2946
Portland, OR 97208-2946
RE: FY 06 Funding for Metro GI Study
Dear Mr. Hudson,
The City of Eugene is enthusiastic about the Metro GI Study and the partnership and
relationships that are continuing to develop as we take a detailed look at our local waterways.
As a new member of the team, I have been especially appreciative of the efforts made by your
staff and LCOG to transition and educate me on this visionary study.
I am pleased to hear that you are forecasting a federal appropriation of $264,000 and have
included the City of Eugene's cash contribution of $100,000 with this letter. It is my
understanding that the local match has continued to grow with our increased coordination and
efforts. While this is great news for our community, it is my hope that the federal appropriation
will also grow to build an even stronger project. Currently, staff is proposing to include this
project in our FY 07 United Front lobbying package. I will be contacting you later this fall to
schedule a trip to Portland to coordinate our request with the Portland District.
look forward to continuing work with you and your staff as we move through the next year of
our work plan. Please feel free to contact me at any time. I can be reached at (541) 682-4842
or my cell (541)514-0309.
Sincerely,
Sarah J. Medary
Natural Resources Manager
