Equipment <br /> 00757.20 Batch Plants -Provide batch plants according to 00540.20 or pugmiA plants <br /> according to 00757.21. <br /> 00757.21 •Pugmiti Plants - A pugmill plant shall be a central plant with a twin shaft pugmill <br /> mixer, capable of batch or continuous mixing, equipped with synchronized metering devices and <br /> feeders to maintain the correct proportions of aggregate, cement, mineral admixture and water. <br /> 00757.22 Mixers -Provide mixers according to 00540.21 except mix RCC in the batch <br /> plant mixer or pugmill mixer. Truck mixers or other forms of altemative mixing equipment may <br /> be used with the approval of the Engineer. <br /> 00757.23 Hauling Equipment -Transport the R.C.C. mixture. to the site in dump trucks <br /> with boxes cleaned out before loading and equipped with protective covers properly secured in <br /> place until discharge. <br /> 00757.24 Paving Equipment -RCC shall be placed with ahigh-density or conventional <br /> asphalt type paver subject to approval by the Engineer. The paver shall be capable of placing <br /> RGC to a minimum of 85% of the maximum wet density in accordance with AASHTO T-180, as <br /> corrected for oversize by AASHTO T-224-1996. The paver shall be of suitable weight~and <br /> stability to spread and finish the RCC material, without segregation, to the required thickness, <br /> smoothness, surface texture, cross-section and. grade. <br /> (a) Alternative Paving Equipment - In areas not accessible to pavin machines, <br /> altemative paving equipment may be used,. if approved by the Engineer. ~he equipmenf shall be <br /> capable of producing a finished product that results in a smooth, continuous surface without <br /> segregation, excessive tearing, or rock pockets. <br /> 00757.25 Compactors -Provide the specified self-propelled rollers capable of meeting the <br /> requirements of 00745.24, except as follows: <br /> (a) Steel Wheeled Rollers -Provide steel wheeled rollers with a gross static mass (weight) <br /> of between 3 and 10 tons. <br /> (b) Vibratory Rollers -Provide vibratory rollers with a minimum gross static mass (weight) <br /> of at least 40 tons. l <br /> (c) Pneumatic Rollers -Provide pneumatic rollers with a minimum gross static mass <br /> (weight) of at least 10 tons, but no more than 20 tons. <br /> (d) Alternative Compaction Equipment -Walk-behind vibratory rollers or plate tampers <br /> shall be used for compacting areas inaccessible to the large rollers.
