While this is
a stand-alone contract, it is part of a larger effort to improve accessibility to businesses and
residences for people who walk, bike and drive in the Willamette Street corridor. Additional
construction is expected to begin in mid-January on a pilot project to restripe and make several
permanent improvements on Willamette Street from 24th to 32nd avenues.
For the work on Monday and Tuesday, motorists should expect one- or two-block lane
closures in work areas. At least one lane will remain open in both directions at all times. Entrances
to specific businesses may be closed for up to 20 minutes; however, efforts will be made to leave
portions of driveways open if it is possible to do so safely.
More information about the South Willamette Street improvement project can be found on
the web at www.eugene-or.gov/swillamettestreet.

# # #

Public Works Administration ● City of Eugene ● 101 E.
