December 23, 2015

CONTACT: Damon Joyner, Surface Maintenance Supervisor, 541-682-4835

From Public Information Section, 541-682-5523 or 541-954-2938

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Second Round of Leaf Collection Starts Monday in Eugene
Crews from Eugene Public Works will begin their second and final round of leaf collection
on Monday, Dec. 28.
For the first week, the crews will concentrate on the central and downtown areas. The
second round of collections moves quickly, so all leaves should be out and ready for collection in the
central area by Sunday, Dec. 27.
Then, starting Jan. 4, crews will move out into the west, north and south areas of the city. All
leaves should be out and ready for collection in the central area by Sunday, Jan. 3.
There will be no leaf collection on Dec. 25 or Jan. 1, due to the holidays.
Residents are asked to wait until the weekend before scheduled collection in their area to
place their leaves out for collection. Once the second round of collections has been completed in a
neighborhood, no more leaves or other debris should be placed in the street. Check the online
collection schedule at www.eugene-or.gov/leaf or call 5471-682-4800.
As of Dec. 23, Public Works crews have collected nearly 17,000 cubic yards of leaves. About
90 percent of those leaves have been delivered to local residents who value leaves as compost and
mulch material. None of the leaves collected by the City are taken to the landfill.
# # #

Public Works Administration ● City of Eugene ● 101 E.
