Surrounded by restored native oak
savannah prairie, the park is an oasis of green, with more than 150 new trees, plus large, open lawn areas and a series of
rolling hills for frolicing, picnicking and sunbathing.
Neighbor Justin White is very excited about the addition to the neighborhood. "I'm so glad a park was built instead of
another housing development," says White, who recently became a father. "It was a flat field; now it has rolling hills and
trees and it's set up to play. It makes you want to run into the park and play, and I'm 30 years old!"
The park design is based on input gathered from neighbors by Parks staff at a series of public workshops held in 2002. A
grand opening celebration is scheduled for next spring.
