Ic v 4 c_- <br /> - , release <br /> EUGENE <br /> October 7, 2003 <br /> CONTACT: <br /> ■ Lorna Baldwin, Stream Team Coordinator, 682-4850, 913-1292 (cell phone on day of the <br /> event only) <br /> ■ Therese Picado, Public Information Specialist, Parks and Open Space, 682-4814 or 682- <br /> 4800 <br /> FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE <br /> UO FRATERNITY MEMBERS TO CLEAN UP MILLRACE WITH EUGENE STREAM TEAM <br /> Members of Greek Life at the University of Oregon (UO) and volunteers from Eugene <br /> Stream Team will dig in to clean up the Millrace on Saturday, October 11, from noon to 4 p.m. <br /> A cooperative venture between Stream Team and the UO fraternities, the effort will involve an <br /> educational component as well as hands-on manual labor on the man-made waterway from <br /> Franklin Boulevard to Patterson Street. The history of the canal and stormwater/watershed <br /> issues associated with the canal will be addressed prior to handing out rakes, grabbers, gloves, <br /> and wheelbarrows and getting down to business. All interested volunteers should sign up at the <br /> number below and meet at the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity house at 1000 Alder. <br /> Stream Team will provide the instruction and equipment, Sanipac has donated a <br /> dumpster for collecting garbage, and the office of UO Greek Life will provide snacks for <br /> volunteers.
