Fallen foliage on its way out-The Register-Guard, Eugene, Oregon, USA Page 2 of 3
Lane County will begin its collection the week of Nov. 10, while
Springfield's leaf program gets under way Dec. 1. Eugene
begins its second round of leaf pickups on Dec. 15, including
collections on unimproved streets.
The Register-Guard will publish a collection schedule every
Sunday as a reminder. Look for it on the Communities page.
Eugene's program asks folks to follow a few simple rules:
Don't mix debris such as sticks, pine needles or grass clippings
into your leaf piles. "It contaminates leaves so they can't
deliver them," Picado said.
Make sure leaf piles don't block storm drains or gutters, and
keep them at least 15 feet from parked vehicles and away
from traffic or bike lanes.
Don't put them in the road until the weekend before your part
of town is collected.
Eugene residents who can't put leaves in the road without
creating a safety hazard should bag them, then call 682-4800.
The city also will line you up with advice if you have questions
about using your leaves for mulch or compost (call 682-5542)
or if you want leaves delivered to your home (682-4800).
I
4 ty
http://www.registerguard.com/cgi-bin/printStory.py?name=d 1.cr.leaves.1031&date=20031031 11/3/03
