The
meeting, which is the first in a series of public workshops, will take place on Wednesday,
October 29, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Petersen Barn, 870 Bertzen in the Bethel area.
The goal of the first meeting is for City parks planners to gather input from residents
about their vision for the park. The park, which is surrounded by a new subdivision under
construction and older, established neighborhoods, currently consists of a large, open field with
an open drainage way that runs through it. The field has been used informally as an off-leash
dog area.
A master plan will be drafted after the initial meeting and subsequent public meetings
held to gather more input from neighbors and refine the park plan. Construction of the park is
anticipated to start in 2005. Improvements will be funded in part by the parks and open space
bond measure voters approved in 1998.
