• A BUTTE SALUTE
PHOTOGRAPH BY BRIAN DAVIES/The Register-Guard
PINE
-arn
4110. -
1111.
Veterans salute the American flag as it is raised along with a POW/MIA flag on Friday
morning atop Skinner Butte. The city gave the veterans permission to fly the flag at the
war memorial six days a year.Friday was a national day of mourning for prisoners of
war and soldiers missing in action.
Mary Walston of the City Managers Office recently acknowledged the Park Amenities
crew for mounting the POW/MIA flag on the top of Skinner Butte in this e-mail:
"I wanted to thank each of you for your role in putting the POW/MIA flag on
Skinner Butte today. It was a nice event, seamless and respectful. While the
city council received most of the credit for making it happen, it really was the
quick and responsive effort of your staff who made it happen. Thanks again."
I Cif
the e9►s}er-Gviard
Friolay, Sep{embex' I'1 zoo
