FINDINGS : The following inspection findings were noted: <br /> a. The City is continuing to work with environmental <br /> advocates to limit vegetation removal to only that which is <br /> necessary to ensure the channel capacity is not limited and <br /> unwanted vegetation will not result in backwater. Selective <br /> brush and tree removal is recommended in the channel between 30th <br /> Avenue and 33rd Avenue; upstream of 29th Avenue; and along the <br /> Fairgrounds to ensure adequate velocities during times of high <br /> flow. <br /> b. Sloughing along the channel side slope was noted on the <br /> left bank immediately downstream of Garfield Street (4 areas on <br /> the left bank, each approximately 40 lineal feet) . The permit <br /> process for repair is ongoing with work scheduled later this <br /> year. An A/E firm prepared a report for the city that indicates <br /> the channel bottom in the vicinity of Garfield Ave has dropped <br /> approximately 4 feet . Computer modeling by the A/E indicates <br /> that the banks fail due to bank storage of water during and after <br /> high-discharge events . <br /> c . Between Acorn Park Street and Oak Patch Road, the city <br /> is planning to construct the Amazon Creek Widening Project . The <br /> project will widen Amazon Creek along this stretch and return the <br /> creek to a more natural condition. <br />
