7G
We, the under*-'led woulMd like to express our apprecia`'in and concern for the
(11.) "-
use of the Wayne __ Ranch dog park. It seems that a _ small but vocal groupis
adamantly oppossed to the single-use park, and we would like to present a more
positive viewpoint.
There are many fine multi-use parks in Eugene, but only a few areas designated as
single-use parks where dogs can be off-leash. These parks are very important to dog
owners, who use them year-round in all kinds of weather. The vast majority of those
rn zy y using the Ranch dog park make conscientious efforts to "follow the rules" and
—' respect the rights of those neighboring the dog park; our dogs are licensed, they are
kept on-leash outside the fenced area, the noise/barking level is controlled, and we
pick up and dispose of our dogs' messes in the containers provided within the park. In
addition, although it is inconvenient for many who take their dogs to the park before
school or work, the recently imposed hours of closure (8p - 8a) of the east field have
been complied with. 6445rsc
It is difficult to imagine Wayne Morrie-Ranch being used for some other purpose,
particularly a multi-use park, without a major investment in renovations on the part of
the City. Due to the terrain and street run-off, the park is virtually a swamp after a
couple of good rains, and remains that way throughout the winter and spring. This is
not a particular problem for the dogs, but we cannot imagine people wanting to take
their children to play in this; a multi-use park at this site would remain wasted and
unused for about 6 months out of the year. While this might be the goal of a few, it
would be a disappointment and great loss for the many people and dogs who now
enjoy this park throughout the year.
n
ala ersent •
1.Las- egAs- 8rih E'unuc 4D2 IN's-- 16'
. -carQ, - -
2
3. 941 17.
aqs e
• 3- 1"et es4424:1;S :/e-see/11-14(543118.
. 4. 19.
5. 20.
6. 21.
7. 22.
. 8. 23.
9. 24.
• . 10. 25.
11. 26.
12. 27.
13. 28.
14. 29.
15. 30.
