INF( :AT1ON ONLY
•
Copies to: SIV
Eugene, Oregon
_ I 15Z-11 a55/W January 8, 1996 ALAN I O
Q CD N U a Z
Dear Mayor Bascom, City Councilors and Eugene Parks Officials:
We respectfully submit the enclosed signatures which were
gathered in support of the Wayne Morse Ranch Dog Park. The 185
signatures were gathered between November and January when the
Park is less frequented by dog owners due to weather conditions.
It is our intention with these signatures to reiterate our
enthusiastic support of the City' s designation of off-leash areas
for dogs and for the Wayne Morse Ranch Park in particular._ It is
a very much valued asset to dog owners in our neighborhood, as
well as, in the extended community, and we are committed to the
continuing use of this beautiful area in cooperation with other
local neighbors.
The recent changes in the Park' s hours and access were made, we
understand, to accommodate concerns of adjacent neighbors.
Unfortunately these changes were made without any input from
users of the Park, many of whom used the Park before work hours,
and for whom the current hours pose some problems. Also we
understand certain neighbors' concerns about parking, and we
believe some dialogue about these access issues( i.e. access by
seniors and users with disabilities, etc. ) would be positive and
productive. We ask simply that the City elicit input from Park
users before instituting policies of this kind.
Once again we want to express our appreciation to the City of
Eugene for the consideration given to the users of the Wayne
Morse Ranch Off-Leash Dog Park; it truly contributes to the
quality of life in our neighborhood of Eugene.
Sincerely,
Jesse Rappaport, 344-0614
Lisa Oken, 683-3725
INFORMATION ONLY Julie Sirois, 344-1819
es t0: (Park users and circulators
Cop
"off of the petition)
enc.
cc: Mr. Don Bishoff, Register-Guard
Television Stations KVAL, KEZI, and KMTR
I
