This morning I received a call from a Jerry Gorton. He is the person in
charge of the local horseshoe club. He said they have a tournament for
Saturday, April 22nd, and Saturday, April 29th. They have contacted the
people distributing the food to insure there is not a conflict. The people
serving the food intend to be there during the same period the horseshoe
tournament is going on. The area where they have been serving food is the
same area used by the horseshoe people. The horseshoe people have applied for
a park use permit for both Saturdays, and we have issued them one. Apparently
the people serving the food are not willing to honor that, so we are going to
have an additional conflict. The food people have not applied for a park use
permit.
We could set some additional tables in another location in the park for the
people to feed the homeless. The questionis do we want to encourage and
subsidize this type of activity in park settings. My opinion is no.
The E-mail that was forwarded to me said that we may contact either Carol
Bruhl or Richard Guske. Since three staff people have already attempted to
communicate with Carol and apparently have not succeeded, I tried to contact
Richard Guske this morning. I received a voice mail and asked him to call me.
I will try to sort through this and make some sense of it.
cc: Jim Johnson
Phil Weiler
Dick Morgan
Dee Grissell
