School District 4J
Eugene Public Schools
200 North Monroe
Eugene,Oregon 97402-4295
November 1, 1993
Mr. Richard Morgan
Park Maintenance Manager
City of Eugene
1820 Roosevelt Blvd.
Eugene, Oregon 97401
Subject : Sheldon High School - Baseball Field Lights
Dick:
Pursuant to our telephone conversation of earlier today, I am
providing you with information regarding the costs for the removal
of the Sheldon ballfield lights, poles, and transformers . For the
benefit of other readers, the pole removal is required due to
the deteriorated condition of a number of the poles, as reported
by two, separate, outside consultants .
The purpose of this memo is to request your participation in the
cost of the removal . The costs listed below are for direct
out-of-pocket expenses only and do not account for District
personnel costs associated with the project .
LIGHT FIXTURE AND POLE REMOVAL/DISPOSAL $8, 872 . 00
(Contracted with L.H. Morris, low bid of four rec'd)
TRANSFORMER DISPOSAL (GE) $6, 609 . 00
TOTAL $15, 481 . 00
This request is for funding support in the amount of $4, 436 or,
one half of the fixture and pole removal cost . The School
District will provide the remaining half of the removal costs and
the entire amount for the disposal of the transformers .
It is unfortunate that the agreement between the City and the
School District for the ballfield lights is unclear regarding
responsibilities around our current circumstance. Because of this
lack of clarity, my conclusion is that a fifty-fifty split is the
fairest' way to share the costs for the light/pole removal . If you
have otir suggestions or would like to offer another opinion, I
would appreciate hearing from you.
